We spend a lot of time sitting near a screen: mindlessly watching shows, movies, playing video games, or with e-readers, reading novels of questionable quality – all things generally thought of as entertainment.
Where were you ten years ago. What were you doing at that time in your life? What were your skills, beliefs, and mindset? Did you some mistakes back then?
Would you make those same mistakes today?
This past Saturday, my friend asked me to go with her to a massive electronics store…
My dad is one of the most important people in my life.
I’ve been thinking about him a lot lately. He is one out of a handful of people who have always been there for me.
A friend told me that I’m not a good listener.
“What?!,” I said, when I first heard it. Or, semi-heard it. “That can’t be true…”
I met a falconer. We discussed the process of working with trained birds of prey, and I asked questions about the art.
In the recent months, a typical morning for me has entailed multiple steps consisting of the following:
- Getting up around 5AM
- Making coffee
- Reading & writing
- Showering / shaving / brushing teeth
- Cooking eggs and kale
- Getting dressed
I’m usually on the road to the office by 6:40.
Now, this routine works and it’s fine, but perhaps there is a better way…
I’ve stepped away from this blog for a few weeks.
Some new demands have been placed on my time, and I’ve been giving serious thought to the important things in life. Prioritizing is always important, but all the more so as you grow in your relationships and climb higher up the corporate ladder.
What’s the difference between an amateur and a professional? A dabbler and an artist?
How do we know when we’ve made that shift in skillset and state of mind and are ready to progress to the next level in our craft?
At times, it’s not always clear…
What’s your goal-setting process? Are you the master-strategist, designing the entire undertaking from start to finish?
Or, do you allow someone else to become the authority and follow their direction one hundred percent by the book?
